As far as Remiel Calcifet was concerned, this was just another faceless GRUNT in the masses hoping to curry favor with declan walsh and his mates. Excessive pride had been at fault for plenty of his own mistakes before, and perhaps it would be again someday. However, this time, the royal was certain he'd be the teacher guiding the lesson of its consequences.

"You're out of your depth," He says, cold cobalt hues coming to life with the firelight from his SHINY ARMAROUGE's pauldrons. "And I'm out of time for this sort of nonsense."

When presented with a GENGAR and its poor attempt to HYPNOTIZE him, Remiel simply looks away as GALAHAD readies an ARMOR CANNON with raised arms.

"Fire."

gengar frowns as Remiel Calcifet turns his face away, but the disappointment is shorter-lived in the ghost-type than in its trainer. with a giggle that transforms into a wail, it embraces the armor shot, blasting into the sky on impact. ectoplasmic goo rains down from above as its ghostly body knits back together around the damage. The sound of ectoplasm being blasted apart before coming back together again is a familiar one. Being an archaeologist in the world of Pokémon meant coming across your fair share of Ghost-type Pokémon.

And most of them weren't exactly friendly.

It was for this reason that Remiel considered himself something of a part-time Ghost-type specialist. And it was for this reason that he remained unfazed when a tiny splash of ectoplasm splattered across his cheek. Pulling a small cloth out from his jacket pocket, the royal calmly wipes it off as he responds.

"Bold of you to assume I don't have my own reasons for being here. Then again, I suppose being on your hands and knees at the behest of your master is the only life you must know. Poor thing."

Meanwhile, the SHADOW BALL that comets towards Galahad manages to connect with a dark miasma of an explosion. Though the armored Pokémon had braced itself, the attack managed to stagger it backwards before it stepped forward again with a grunt and a glowing light emanating from its fiery eyes.

"You lack worthwhile IDEALS."

Pointing a single hand forward, the Armarouge commands its PSYCHIC power to seize the Gengar and tear it apart from the inside out.

"are you free now, calcifet? from where i'm standing, you've traded one master for another."[break][break]gengar chuckles gleefully, floating back down towards the floor. before it can reach the ground, the armarouge sticks psychic fingers into one of its injuries. the ghost-type cries out in pain, but it stirs no attention from marcus. he's more interested in this righteous prince. he speaks, amused: [break][break]"it sounds like you and i are quite similar, then."[break][break]
from gengar's shadow comes the tendrils of its last resort: a destiny bond that seeks to bind armarouge's fate with its own. it races across the ground toward the psychic-type's silhouette.

"Then you are a fool as well," Remiel responds, raising a single hand and spawning a crackling LIGHTNING STILETTO between his fingers. "I have the right to leave the League behind should I choose. You, however, remain bound to TEAM ROCKET in chains you cannot see. We are not the same."

The DESTINY BOND that approaches Galahad is noticed, but it moves too fast to avoid. Instead, the Armarouge rushes in to close the distance between itself and the Gengar with a roaring FLAME CHARGE that illuminates their surroundings. Remiel, in the meantime, casts his LIGHTNING STILETTO at the masked man.

the lightning stiletto is flung. marcus throws himself sideways — a graceless attempt to avoid the weapon in what little time he has to react — and feels pain explode along his arm. the pop of electricity propels him further and he lands with a grunt on his uninjured side. [break][break]
he groans a curse at the smell of his own burning skin, but persists in trying to get back on his feet. [break][break]his gengar's own flesh blisters in the heat of the barely-avoided flame charge. the shadow-type ducks to one side with a howling laugh, using the close quarters to try and deliver a shadow punch.[break][break]

The bolt struck.

Remiel does not waste a moment afterward before stepping forward, closing the distance between himself and the aggressor as their Pokémon fight nearby. Though he could not bring about the same vicious tactics as ADMIN FOX now that he was part of the LEAGUE, the royal could certainly display the same tenacity.

It was a race against time to reach the mysterious depths of this mountain, after all. Any OBSTACLE that came his way needed to be dealt with efficiently.

Almost as if feeding off this tenacity himself, Galahad's eyes flare up as he stops the SHADOW PUNCH just inches away from his face with his PSYCHIC power. Then, with a burst of FLASH FIRE from his body, the Armarouge attempts to blow the Gengar backward to create some distance.

in his peripheral, he can see Remiel Calcifet closing in on him. his movements remain unhurried, burdened by searing pain around the edges of a startlingly numb wound. he rolls onto his stomach, presses his palms against the earth, and lets his uninjured arm shoulder most of his weight as he pushes himself onto his hands and knees.

gengar's fist strikes against the psychic embrace with a thump! [break][break]shadows hiss and meld greedily into the pink barrier, but the armarouge's flash fire casts the ghost-type away before it can capitalize on the weakened cracks forming. much like its trainer, it's slower to get up this time.

lifting its head, it tries to use hypnosis on the psychic-type.

Just as the Armarouge raises its cannon and aims it, it finds itself face-to-face with the Gengar's HYPNOTIC eyes. There's a feeble attempt to try and fire off a blast as its eyelids grow heavy... but it's futile. In seconds, it falls ASLEEP standing as its arms fall to the wayside.

Noticing this, Remiel stops just a few steps short of marcus kotov and calls out to his Pokémon. "Galahad! Wake up!" The avatar's body crackles with the electricity he has summoned. He never truly takes an eye off his opponent either, ensuring the Team Rocket agent is always at least in the periphery of his vision.

But none of this, of course, completely ensures against some form of counterattack or sucker punch.

the armarouge falls asleep, arms falling slack at its sides. the hypnotic glow in the gengar's eyes fade away, replaced by an unwieldly hunger. scrambling to its feet, it sets upon its vulnerable enemy, mouth open wide to try and eat its dreams. [break][break]
were it not for the electricity sparking off of Remiel Calcifet , marcus may have reached out for an ankle, a leg, something to drag him down to his level. instead, he reaches into his pocket and throws his klefki between them. [break][break]the fairy-type rights itself in mid-air, keys clattering together as it fires off a flash cannon at the prince.

Galahad is soon descended upon by the lecherous DREAM EATER. Before Remiel can hope to do anything about it, however, a jangling of keys alerts him to the actions of the opponent standing before him. All it takes is a brief glance of the KLEFKI before the black-haired prince TELEPORTS away in the blink of an eye.

He reemerges instantly behind marcus kotov and the second Pokémon he'd summoned. And, almost as instantly, the avatar fires off another LIGHTNING STILETTO that darts past the two and strikes his Armarouge instead. The bolt of electricity may even serve to damage the Gengar mid-feast before Galahad inevitably WAKES UP from the nightmare.

"FLAME CHARGE to me!"

If the Gengar hadn't unlatched itself from his brain just yet, then the flames that burst out from its body surely would do the trick. The fact that marcus kotov and his Klefki were in its path was just an added bonus.

gengar siphons swirling black dream mist into its mouth, but the gulf of its hunger widens as the armarouge gets weaker. the destiny bond tying the two pokemon together becomes a detriment as gengar feels its own strength slipping away the more it consumes, but the gnawing in its stomach commands it to continue gorging itself on dreams.

a lightning stiletto sails over marcus's head and strikes the psychic-type, waking it up. he looks over his shoulder and sees the rogue prince has teleported behind him.

"fairy lock!"

he can feel the fire of the armarouge's flame charge as the psychic-type crashes against the barrier imprisoning it. his burn stings painfully in the heat, but the ache is a kinder alternative to burning alive.

"gengar," he starts, rolling over to rest on his haunches. he puts his back to the fairy lock barrier, facing remiel. "end this."
[break][break]
disappointed and singed from the flame charge, the ghost-type gathers dark energy around its fist and plunges it into the original wound armarouge had carved out for it. gengar howls in agony, trembling with effort as it fights against its own burgeoning self-preservation, then faints.

from its still body, the shadowy vestiges of their destiny bond reaches out to claim the armarouge, too.

The FAIRY LOCK that descends around the Gengar and his Armarouge is a clever defensive tactic. Remiel did not doubt that Galahad would have used the last of its strength to end this bout once and for all. Instead, the flaming knight is dragged down in defeat by the gluttonous phantom.

Its flames flicker and dissipate before it FAINTS, disappearing in a flash of golden light shortly thereafter. On the other side of the battlefield, Remiel swaps his Armarouge's Luxury Ball for another.

"Cheap tricks like that will only get you so far," The avatar glares, tossing the next Luxury Ball between them before an IRON JUGULIS is summoned to the battlefield. "And you're going to regret that."

The mechanical dragon whirs and twitches, its visual sensors locking on to their opponents and displaying targeting data in bright red. When the lock-on is complete, all three of its jaws snap in their direction before it unleashes a gargling robotic cry.

It finishes this cry by jabbing its two lesser heads into the ground below, muffling their cries:

"ELECTRIC TERRAIN!"

And summoning a field of electricity that devours their environment whole. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the summoning of this field surrounds both avatar and PARADOX Pokémon with an unmistakable aura of intense power (QUARK DRIVE).
